Steven W. Quattlebaum was a recent participant in ABOTA Masters in Trial programs at the Arkansas and Texas State Bar Association meetings and will participate in another at the Utah State Bar Association Meeting later this year. Educating attorneys in the art of trial advocacy has been a primary goal of the Foundation of the American Board of Trial Advocates since its inception. The Masters in Trial programs illustrate how experienced trial lawyers conduct a trial – without war stories. All of the trial team counsel are ABOTA members and are well-known and highly-respected in their fields. The mock trial demonstration is presented before a presiding judge and a real jury, complete with witnesses, experts and courtroom visuals. The jury then renders a verdict in the case, with jury deliberations broadcast to meeting attendees. In addition, Mr. Quattlebaum also served on the faculty of the 2012 ABOTA National Trial College at Harvard Law School in July 2012. Designed for third- and fourth- year trial attorneys from both sides of the bar, the trial college consists of four days of intense instruction on technique, followed by a mock trial presented by the students before a real jury. Following the trial, participants view the jury deliberations and students receive critiques from the faculty members.
