Quattlebaum, Grooms, Tull & Burrow PLLC is pleased to welcome Daniel J. Beck as an associate to the law firm. Mr. Beck will practice in the firm’s Little Rock office and his practice will focus on banking law, commercial lending, finance, real estate, and compliance. Mr. Beck graduated magna cum laude from Arkansas State University in 2004 with a B.S. in Psychology. He received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Arkansas School of Law in 2007, where he served as Executive Editor of the Journal of Food Law & Policy. He also served as a judicial extern for Arkansas Circuit Judge David Clinger in the fall of 2006. Mr. Beck received his LL.M. in Banking and Finance with a concentration in Lending and Credit Transactions from Boston University in 2008.
Joel B. Carter and Joseph W. Price II have been selected for the Arkansas Bar Association’s Leadership Academy Class of 2013-2014. The Leadership Academy is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of participating attorneys and produce higher level leaders with skills that can transform the community and revolutionize the legal profession.

Quattlebaum, Grooms, Tull & Burrow PLLC is pleased to announce that Madeline L. Kurrus and Thomas H. Wyatt have joined the firm as Associates in the Little Rock office. Ms. Kurrus received her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Arkansas School of Law and graduated from Vanderbilt University, cum laude, with a Bachelor of Science in Human and Organizational Development and a minor in Economics. Mr. Wyatt graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School Law with high honors and received a B.A. from the University of California at Riverside. Ms. Kurrus and Mr. Wyatt will both practice in the area of civil litigation.
Two QGTB attorneys were recognized at the 115th Annual Meeting of the Arkansas Bar Association for their service to the association. Charles L. Schlumberger received the President’s Award for his long service on the Legislation Committee and J. Cliff McKinney II was the recipient of the Arkansas Bar Foundation General Writing Award. The annual meeting also marked the beginning of Mr. McKinney’s term as Chair of the Young Lawyers Section for the 2013-2014 year. Presenters at the meeting included Mr. McKinney, Steven W. Quattlebaum, and Jeb H. Joyce.
Timothy W. Grooms has been selected to serve on the Dean’s Advisory Council for the UALR William H. Bowen School of Law. Members serve at the invitation of the Dean for a term of three years and will assist the law school in recruitment, placement, legislative initiatives, fundraising, and membership.

Quattlebaum, Grooms, Tull & Burrow PLLC recently participated in the Pulaski County Corporate Trivia Challenge, an annual fundraising event for Economics Arkansas. Each year, local community leaders and businesses around Arkansas participate in this fun-filled event where teams compete to match one another’s wit and trivia knowledge. The QGTB team of Amber Davis-Tanner, Joel Carter, Joe Falasco, and Chad Pekron bested eight (8) other teams to claim First Place in the 2013 competition. Economics Arkansas is a private, non-profit, non-partisan, educational organization founded in 1962 to promote economic literacy in Arkansas.

Students from Little Rock Central High School prevailed as the winners of the Arkansas Mock Trial Competition for the second consecutive year. QGTB associate Everett C. (Clarke) Tucker IV serves as attorney coach of the team. Eight high school teams composed of more than 50 students contended in the state finals held in Little Rock on March 9, 2013. Central High won the final match in a unanimous decision over Little Rock Parkview. The Central High School team will compete in the national event in Indianapolis, IN on May 9-11, 2013.
Quattlebaum, Grooms, Tull & Burrow PLLC is pleased to welcome Michael B. Heister as an associate to the law firm. Mr. Heister will work out of the firm’s Little Rock office and his practice will focus on complex civil litigation, administrative proceedings, environmental compliance, and appeals. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Heister practiced law in Washington, DC, for nine years, first as a trial attorney with the United States Department of Justice Environmental Defense Section and later with a large, international law firm. Mr. Heister is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and received his J. D., summa cum laude, from the University of Arkansas where he was Note and Comment Editor of The Arkansas Law Review. Following graduation from law school, Mr. Heister served as a law clerk to the Honorable Richard S. Arnold of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Mr. Heister is licensed to practice law in Arkansas and the District of Columbia.
